Sorrento is one of the most popular and visited suburbs of Mornington Peninsula and whilst it borders the elite and prestigious Portsea it is no poor neighbour.
The town of Sorrento is one of Victoria’s oldest seaside communities and main high street, Ocean Beach Road is known for its limestone buildings The central villiage is home to a variety of cafes, restaurants, galleries, boutique shops and a supermarket. There is also a famous Vanilla Slice café that has been serving up creamy slices of heaven since 1983.
The Sorrento Hotel just off the esplanade is an iconic venue that has been a local favourite and popular with visitors since 1872.
The Sorrento Pier is located at the western end of Sorrento Front Beach under a rocky outcrop. Built in 1870, Sorrento Pier is visited by both recreational and commercial vessels, including passenger and car ferry that will take you across the bay to Queenscliff in 40 minutes. Fishing from the pier is a popular activity and there are picnic and barbeque facilities and a great playground nearby.
